Other examples might include the PC Engine Super Grafx (failed attempt at it anyway), PC Engine LT, Laseractive…maaaybe the Mk1 Wondermega (probably not) and Capcom’s CP Changer. The Neo was based on a years old CPU when it came out but with premium hardware where it mattered, memory, ROM, support chips, etc which are why it was still a premium system when it retired over a decade later. ![]() It’s Rolex vs Timex, Gucci vs Adidas, McIntosh vs Kenwood. A new Lexus is superior to a 70s Rolls in every single way but it isn’t premium, it’s just young. Things that are premium on the other hand are premium forever…or at least until they transition to being antiques. Once the spec changes the previous state of the art is mere e-waste. The benchmarks you describe are just the most current of an ever changing spec.
